The History Of DesignSedm.com
Born in Manchester, Patrick McGee first got his introduction into programming, when Mr. Butler (a teacher at Patrick's Junior School, St. Chads), equipped the school with some computers. Mr. Butler then in his own time, began showing the children how to program in BASIC. Patrick at this time was a massive Science Fiction Fan, and was gripped by the idea of technology and being shown how computers operate captivated his imagination.
At the age of ten, his family moved from Manchester, to the northern town of Burnley, where he attended St. Johns R.C. primary school. Although there was no computers at the school, Patrick had only a year to wait until he would get his first personal computer, The Spectrum 128k!
Over the years, Patrick continued to gain knowledge of computer systems until in 2005, he finally decided to work in the IT field, with his first IT position at United Press Ltd, where he quickly held the position of Computer Manager. Also at this time he was started a business (Silverbacked Computers) so he could manage his own career development.
For two years Patrick worked for himself, as a computer engineer. Enjoying the challenge of computing, Patrick realised that his knowledge of database administration and networking was lagging. So he decided to move to Prague, in the hope of finding employment at DHL, as he knew that DHL, had a data centre in the Czech Republic to control all their servers across Europe. As with some of the best laid plans, it didn't quite go according to plan and Patrick refocused back to web technologies.
And so designsedm was created.
Finding work as a programmer, Patrick then began to create his own programs. The first being an online email marketing program. After 6 months of developing his program, Patrick realised that Prague wasn't the right location for him to further his career and returned back to the UK. Where a chance phone call to Bruce Power (a lecturer for UCLAN) set Patrick on his way to obtaining his degree in ICT.
DesignSedm.com is a platform for Patrick to showcase his design skills and computer knowledge so that he may continue to find work within the IT sector, hopefully working on his own computer programs as this is where his interests lie.
